Dog & Litter Registration Rules

Registra is an exclusively purebred registry. Only dogs with documented purebred lineage are eligible for registration.

• To add an existing dog to the registry, you must submit a clear, unaltered copy of the original pedigree certificate from your current recognised registry.
• Approval of any dog is at the sole discretion of the Registra administrative team and is not guaranteed. Dogs that do not meet the registry's quality and authenticity standards will be rejected.
• In cases of disputed parentage, Registra reserves the right to demand formal DNA profiling from an accredited veterinary laboratory before issuing registration papers. All costs associated with DNA profiling and veterinary verification are the sole responsibility of the breeder.

Registra enforces strict data integrity and animal welfare parameters directly through the platform.

• The "Whole Litter" Mandate: Breeders must register the entire litter simultaneously. The registration of partial litters or individual puppies from a litter is strictly prohibited to prevent fraud and ensure accurate genealogical records.
• Registration Deadlines: A litter must be registered on the platform within exactly one (1) year of the whelping date. The software will permanently block the registration of any litter that exceeds this deadline. There are no exceptions to this rule.
• Breeding Age Limits: To align with animal welfare standards, the Registra platform will automatically block the registration of any litter if the Dam (mother) is 9 years of age or older at the time of whelping.
• Inbreeding Restrictions: Registra prohibits 1st-degree incestuous matings. The platform will automatically block litter registrations resulting from matings between full siblings, or between a parent and its direct offspring.

Breeders have the digital authority to restrict the breeding rights of the puppies they produce.

• Full Registration: The dog is cleared for future breeding on the platform.
• Limited Registration (Pet Only):The dog's profile will publicly display a restricted status. The platform will automatically block any attempt to register a litter sired or whelped by a dog with a Limited Registration status.
• Only the original breeder who placed the restriction has the authority to lift it using the platform's profile management tools.

Registra permits the registration of litters conceived via Artificial Insemination (including fresh, chilled, and frozen semen), subject to strict verification to prevent fraud.

• Veterinary Certification: For any litter conceived via AI, the breeder must upload a formal Certificate of Insemination signed by a registered veterinary professional. The certificate must confirm the date of insemination and the verified microchip number of the Dam.
• Semen Ownership & Authorization: The owner of the Sire (or the legal owner of the frozen semen) must authorize the mating digitally through the Registra platform.
• DNA Profiling: Registra reserves the right to mandate DNA parentage verification for any litter conceived via AI, particularly in cases involving imported frozen semen or deceased sires, before registration papers are issued.

Registra supports matings where the Sire (Stud) is registered with an external recognised registry.

• To authorise a mating, the owner of the outside stud must create a free Registra account, submit the Sire's official pedigree certificate for approval, and use the platform's digital tools to grant the Dam's owner permission to register the resulting litter.
• The Sire's owner is not required to pay subscription fees to facilitate this process.

No dog or puppy can be formally registered on the platform without a verified, ISO-compliant microchip number.

• Registra mandates that every dog must be permanently identified via a subcutaneous microchip before registration papers are generated.
• Microchips must conform to ISO Standards 11784 and 11785 (15 digits).
• Proof of Implantation: During the registration process, breeders must upload a clear photograph or scan of the official microchip certificate or barcode sticker linked to the specific puppy. Hand-typed numbers without supporting visual proof may be rejected or flagged for manual review.

Registra legally and functionally recognizes the co-ownership of dogs.

• A single dog profile may have a maximum of five (5) registered co-owners.
• Percentage ownership and administrative permissions (such as the right to authorize a mating or transfer the dog) are managed directly through the software by the users.
• Registra is not responsible for mediating financial or contractual disputes between co-owners. All permissions granted within the software are considered legally binding authorizations by the platform.

Every breeder on the Registra platform must operate under a registered "Kennel Affix" (a prefix or suffix).

• Name Allocation: Kennel Affixes are granted on a strict first-come, first-served basis. Upon registration, your Kennel Affix must match the kennel name present on the pedigree certificates of your foundational dogs.
• Holding a specific affix with another registry does not guarantee its availability on Registra. If a name clash occurs, you must apply for an alternative name. Post-registration name changes are heavily restricted and granted only at the discretion of the Registra team.
• A registered dog's full name (including the affix and any spaces) may not exceed forty (40) characters.
• Names may not contain profanity, offensive language, or terms that could bring the registry into disrepute. Names cannot consist entirely of numbers or initials.

When a registered dog is transferred to a new owner or client, Registra automatically issues the official pedigree certificate in a digital PDF format to the new owner at no cost.

• Profile Activation:To unlock the dog's interactive Registra profile (allowing the new owner to utilize the platform's management tools, update the dog's details, or use the dog for future breeding), the new owner must pay a one-time activation fee of R50.
• Until activated, the dog's profile remains in a restricted, read-only state.

Registra serves solely as an administrative data-management platform and genealogical registry. We do not inspect physical premises.

• A certificate of registration from Registra acts solely as a verifiable record of pedigree and lineage. It does not constitute a guarantee or warranty of the dog's physical health, genetic soundness, temperament, or show quality.
• The responsibility for health testing, veterinary care, compliance with consumer protection laws, and the overall fitness of a dog rests entirely with the breeder. Buyers are solely responsible for vetting breeders and their kennels before purchasing a puppy.
